National Slow Down Day is today, October the 20th, with Gardaí helping out in the campaign by setting up checkpoints across the country.
The kicked off their Slow Down campaign bright and early this morning at 7am and will be checking cars all the way up until 7 this evening. Motorists in many areas will today be checked for speed, in a bid to reduce road fatalities.
Gardaí have appealed for motorists to stick to the recommended speed limits, especially as the bad weather comes into force. Gardaí have published a list of areas where they will be in attendance today.
