Murphy’s Motors, New Ross Road Glenmore, County Kilkenny recently played host to a major fundraising event which saw the New Holland dealership raise €1,200, respectively for Embrace FARM.
Diane Banville attended an information meeting hosted by Murphy’s Machinery along with her two sons Ryan and Killian from Newbawn, Co Wexford and received a cheque which was presented by John Ryan and Paul Gannon.
“I met Diane Banville and her two sons Ryan and Killian from Newbawn, Co Wexford sometime ago and from that encounter, I want to get involved with farm safety.” Bernadette Murphy of Murphy’s Motors told Catherina Cunnane of That’s Farming.
“I meet so many children here at Murphy’s Motors and I just want to do my part, to make that age demographic more aware of the dangers of Agricultural Machinery,” Bernadette added.
Kids Farm Safety Event
Following on from this, Murphy’s Motors have teamed up with Embrace Farm to stage a fun and interactive kids farm safety event, supported by Hooper Dolan Insurances and Zurich Insurance on March 29th from 2 pm at their premises.
Children are invited to attend a fun afternoon, supported by where they will have an opportunity to meet Alma from Agrikids who will engage the children in workshops, storytelling and computer games all focused around farm safety.
Speaking about the event, Bernadette Murphy of Murphy’s Motors said, “we are very excited to host such an event here at our premises and believe that highlighting farm safety and risks associated with farms can only be of benefit. It is a very serious issue, however, we will make the afternoon as fun as possible with loads of giveaways and the Easter Bunny might even pay a visit”.
“I lost my cousin to a farm accident when he was only very young and another girl used to come into my office over four decades’ ago and a farm accident also claimed her life, both died as children.”
“We need to make kids more aware of dangers and the environment that they are in. I am willing to doing whatever I can to promote farm safety.” Bernadette Murphy concluded.
