Caution is required when handling cattle this summer. With summer here, farmers are doing a lot more handling and moving of stock - this means farmers need to be even more cautious around their livestock. Every year farmers and family members are killed or hurt by cattle. Many of the dangerous situations involving cattle are completetly avoidable. It is up to each farmer to act responsibly in an effort to reduce the number of accidents involving livestock.
All work with cattle involves some level of risk, as you never know how they’ll react. The most causes of injuries from animals on farms are:
- Knocked over or attacked.
- Catching an animal.
- Fall from horse's.
These accidents can be severe with many cattle injuries causing fractures or internal injuries resulting in the farmer being unable to work for many months. This leads to huge financial costs for the farmer.
