Beef Plan Movement will be holding a number of “peaceful protests” at supermarkets over the coming days.
A spokesperson explained that Lidl distribution centres will be excluded as they “have confirmed that they do not require these unfair trading practice retail specifications”.
These "peaceful protests" follows news that retailers will not be attending Monday’s talks.
“We find it hard to understand this as Meat Industry Ireland lay the blame for 4-movements, 70 days and 30 months firmly at the door of the retailers. “
“Meat Industry Ireland also say that retailers take the largest share of the retail price of beef.”
“Both Meat Industry Ireland and Retail Ireland are members of the same organization IBEC and one could be forgiven for thinking that they just might be working together.”
Members of the Beef Plan Movement been advised to “contact your country chairperson regarding a protest in your county”.
