The Public Auction of a stretch of land near Danesfort in Co. Kilkenny caused a stir, after it exceeded the recommended Advised Minimum Value (AMV) by a whopping €500,000.
The auction was held on Thursday October 11th at the Ormonde Hotel in Co. Kilkenny, commencing at 3pm. The auction was headed by Managing director of Sherry Fitzgerald McCreery, Peter McCreery, with the 72.2-acre (29.2 ha) holding selling for a price of €1.75 million.
The Property -
The property is located at Dunderyark, Danesfort in Kilkenny and the farm in question is a residential farm, with a two-storey farmhouse on site.
The residence is in need of restoration though features four bedrooms, An Entrance Hall, Kitchen, Living Room, Utility Room and Bathroom. Also included in the sale was a 6-span galvanised farm shed with an open fronted lean-to, which is located behind the farmhouse.
The property was put up for sale all in one block, with lands laid out in seven divisions and all highly fertile and in grass. The lands are divided by mature hedgerows and would be suitable for growing crops.
In the end, the property sold for €500,000 over the Advised Minimum value for a cool €1.75 million price.
