“Always remember what’s worth having is worth fighting for,” – those were the words of Michael Healy-Rae TD who spoke to a group of Beef Plan protesters last night.
He stressed that all that farmers want “at the end of the day is a very common, ordinary decent thing and that’s to make a living”.
“We have a Taoiseach who believes it’s more important to go to Belfast over the weekend than visiting a few factories and standing with farmers.”
We are a farming nation, but we have a Taoiseach and Ministers who don’t think of that; they think that farmers aren’t important.”
‘Stick together now’
“I really believe in the family farm but if we don’t stick together now, tonight, tomorrow night and every other night, well, then, the whole structure is under attack and, in particular, the beef sector.”
