Met Éireann has issued a number of weather warnings for Wednesday (March 11th) and Thursday (March 12th).
Orange wind warning
Donegal is being placed under a status orange wind warning from 8am tomorrow (Thursday) until midday.
The national forecaster has warned that southwest winds, veering west to northwest, will reach mean wind speeds of 60 to 75km/h with gusts of 100 to 120km/h.
“Due to a combination of waves, spring tides and surge, the possibility of coastal flooding is increased on Thursday.”
Snow/ice warning
Meanwhile, a status yellow snow/ice warning has also been issued for Donegal.
The alert came into effect at 3pm this afternoon (Wednesday, March 11th) and will expire at 8am tomorrow morning (Thursday, March 12th).
“Showers will turn increasingly wintry during Wednesday with a mix of hail, sleet and snow, leading to icy conditions on untreated surfaces. Some localised accumulations will occur.”
Status yellow – wind warning
A status yellow wind warning is in place in Cavan, Monaghan, Donegal, Dublin, Louth, Meath, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Sligo and Clare from 4am on Thursday until 6pm.
Southwest winds, veering west to northwest, will reach mean wind speeds of 50 to 65km/h and gusts of 80 to 110km/h, according to the Irish Meteorological Service.
“Due to a combination of waves, spring tides and surge, the possibility of coastal flooding is increased along western and northwestern coasts on Thursday.”
