Man charged after causing over €270,000 worth of damage to tractor and bales

A 35-year-old man has been arrested and charged after setting a barn on fire in Scotland in recent days.

Damage totalling £250,000 (equivalent to over €277,000) was caused to a tractor and other agricultural equipment along with around 100 tonnes of straw bales; damage was also caused to the barn itself, according to Police Scotland.

The incident happened at approximately 5pm on Tuesday, June 28th, when a barn at Setonhill Farm, Longniddry was set on fire.

“Fortunately, no one was injured, and the fire was extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.”

At the time this statement was issued, the man was due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Friday, July 31st.
