Stuart Downie is getting excited about this year’s FTMTA show and there’s quite a few new toys to see.

With the Ftmta show just days away now, I am really looking forward to seeing all the new shiny bit's of metal that has come to fruition to be part of the agricultural industry. For me I'm most looking forward to a few stands in particular, most notably New Holland, Pottinger and I really, really need to get up close and personal with the new Zetor 160hp Crystal which will be featured on the McHale stand. This tractor was released last year and I have yet to see one out working. It seems that by the very design, Zetor have stepped into the party wearing the latest fashion but can they go toe to toe with the counterparts ? Based on first impressions, they are half way there.

Being a fan of wagon silage, I of course have an invested interest in what pottinger have coming up this year and indeed down the line. Summer 2016 saw me use Pottinger triple mowers for the first cut and picked with a Pottinger torro. I let the cows judge for themselves when it comes to silage quality and they absolutely hoover it up when it's given to them.

Finally , New Holland. Just because I just get to stare at the Blue Power Models on show there. Having already being in with M&S Machinery in Cashel and out and about in a t7 290, my current favourite out of todays manufacturers has to be The Blue Power model T7. Take a swing by yourself and tell him I sent you.

Of course, Ill be over and back to the Fendt stand waiting to see what's up and coming apart from the enormous 1080 fendt, I'll have to check out the variety of jeeps and vans on offer, most notably the New VW Amarok v6. And most importantly, catching up with old friends and indeed more recent ones.

Also, our second dvd is being released in time for the show and I'm praying it goes well. And last but not least, this show gives me an opportunity to get away from the farm. Be it only for 3 or 4 hours but sanity slowly ebbs from your body when you are caught at home 24/7 calving cows.

I'm heading Saturday and I hope to see you all there.
