£7,400 (approximately €8,890) was forked out for a Limousin-cross at a sale of show potential beef calves at Brecon in the UK.
The sale-topper came in the form of the champion, Prince of Thieves, from the Jones family, Tyisaf Herd, Powys.
The family fought off the competition for the second year in a row who won last year’s sale with a full sister to Prince of Thieves with Dancing Queen who sold for £5,700 (approximately €6,850), according to the British Limousin Cattle Society.
Following hot on his heels on the day, was mother-and daughter-duo, Wendy Morgan and Caryl Howells, Llanddeusant, Carmarthenshire, with the reserve heifer champion, Hot Shot, which sold for £5,100 (approximately €6,130) to Messrs Sellers, Sharlock Herd, Lincolnshire.

36 steers sold to an average of £1,551.11 (approximately €1,860), while the average price for the 38 heifers stood at £1,646.32 (approximately €1,979).
