C-20-acres, laid out in two separate divisions in Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford, were sold by public auction at Riverside Park Hotel, in the county recently.
Prior to the auction, which took place on Friday, September 27th, David Quinn of Quinn Property, said that both lots are in a fertile part of Co. Wexford with views of the Blackstairs Mountains, located 6km from Kiltealy and 12km from Enniscorthy.
Lot 1: Extending to c.14-acres, this land – located in Coolacarney - is laid out in three separate fields, currently in grass and of excellent quality. Lot 1 was guided at €140,000 (€10,000 per acre) prior to auction.
Bidding for lot 1 opened at €100,000 and moved briskly to €180,000 with the help of three bidders. At this point, the property was declared on the market. Following the entry of two new bidders, lot 1 was sold at €240,000 (€17,143 per acre) to a local farmer.
Lot 2: C.5.3-acres in one field in Ballindaggin, currently in grass and of excellent quality. lot 2 was guided at €40,000 (€8,000 per acre) before auction.
Bidding on lot 2 commenced at €30,000 and was declared on the market at €72,000.
Lot 2 went under the hammer at €76,000 (€14,340 per acre) to a local individual with equestrian interests.
After proceedings, auctioneer David Quinn remarked how the land had “achieved a particularly strong price considering neither lot had any road frontage”.
David also referred to the significant amount of “disappointed underbidders who remain in need of similar properties”.
