Five lambs have been killed on Brendan Kearney’s farm in Co. Galway over the past two weeks.
The farmer said that there is forestry surrounding the field and he has spotted three foxes or badgers together in this area.
Speaking to That’s Farming, he said: “It's like they were working together as they had the field surrounded but they would not come out when I was there. Unless they were waiting for something else, I don’t know.”
“I skinned one of the lamb’s neck to see what teeth marks were visible. It turned out to be a fox judging by the marks. A badger would have done more damage to the skin and flesh.”
“The lambs were not attacked by dogs; they would be huddled together and frightened if that was the case.” He concluded.
