Monday, January 27th saw some 320 lots go under the hammer at Kilkenny Mart’s sheep sale, according to George Candler.
“A much smaller sale of sheep created a very lively trade with a top call of €133 for heavy hoggets/lambs. Cull ewes peaked at €140/head.” the auctioneer explained.
Butcher lambs – €1.73-€2.49/kg or €123-€133/head;
- X8 77kg – €133;
- X10 58kg – €126;
- X19 52kg – €129;
- X10 51kg – €127.
Factory lambs – €2.30-€2.54/kg or €94-€122/head;
- X10 48kg – €122;
- X10 46kg – €116;
- X8 44kg – €105;
- X5 40kg – €94.
