‘The sales ring looks to be the proper place to sell beef at the moment’

Kilkenny Mart – Cattle Prices – 12-05-2022

According to George Candler, a smaller entry of some 850 lots came under the hammer at Kilkenny Mart on Thursday, May 12th, 2022.

The mart’s auctioneer reported that bullocks peaked at €2,700, while heifers topped out at €2,340 and cull cows soared to €2,560/head.

Speaking following the sale, he said: “The sale attracted a large number of beef cattle with over 40 lots of bullocks exceeding €2000/head to a peak of €2700.”

“Cull cows also meet an excellent trade, and heifers also sold very well with all factories represented.”

“Quality store bullocks recorded a top of €1480 for 4 Limousins, which weighed 415kg, equating to €3.57/kg. The sales ring looks to be the proper place to sell beef at the moment,” he concluded.
