Ornua have announced that they have launched their Kerrygold brand in South Korea, as they look to cope post-Brexit.
One of the country’s chief exporters announced that Kerrygold butter will be sold in the country, through a number of local Korean retailers. This marks the latests expansion into other markets by the groups, on the back of a very successful year for the company with global sales at almost €1bn.
Ornua says this offers the company a new market and route for Irish dairy exports. The company aims to exceed the €1bn barrier mark in sales of the brand. The move has been described as a “central pillar” of the Ornua strategy to develop the brand further globally.
“Opening new routes to market, such as South Korea, is a central pillar of Ornua’s strategy to develop Kerrygold from a butter brand into a €1bn global dairy brand.” said John Jordan of Ornua.
He said that this is a key step is diversifying their markets, especially in the current political environment.
“Today’s announcement is also an key step in further diversifying our customer base, a particularly important consideration for Irish dairy farming in the current political environment,” he concluded.
