In the second in a mini series we talk to the next generation of farmers in Ireland. This week its Liam a 15 year old working with his father on their dairy farm in Meath.

Started when I was 4
How many generations is the farm within the family? 3 alive
Tell me about your farm, system in place, day – to-day tasks?
Dairy farm winter calving milk all year round 60-70 cows of high ebi and litres. Have about 150 head of suckler and beef cattle.
I work on my fathers dairy farm and buy 20 heifer calves each year for myself and wean them and sell them on hopefully make a profit.
What is your favourite thing about farming? Always something to do
Have you always wanted to be a farmer? Yes
Do you want to study Agriculture in third level? Yes
What are your Future plans in farming?
Take over and hopefully get more into beef.
