John Deere 6M series tractors go stepless

John Deere has continued to develop the 6M Series and is now launching several major updates.

Tractors in this series were first successfully introduced at Agritechnica 2019 and have been delivered to customers since January 2020.

The four-cylinder models are now available with the proven AutoPowr transmission, plus a brand new and unique guidance solution, Autotrac on corner post display, as well as a number of other new options.

The four short-frame 6M models offer unobstructed visibility to the front due to the sloping bonnet design, combined with the corner post display.

By adopting the popular 6430 Premium tractor wheelbase of 2400mm, they have a tight turning radius of 4.35m.

Despite their compact size, the maximum permissible gross weight of 10.45 tonnes on these models leads to an unmatched vehicle payload of up to 4.7 tonnes.

Together with the full auto mode and its automatic engine/transmission management, autoclutch enables the operator to stop the tractor by simply using the brake pedal, which makes a huge difference when carrying out a lot of shuttle work, for example, the company said.

Furthermore, the aggressiveness of AutoPowr’s forward/reverse operation can be adjusted via the corner post display. “Customers looking for a more affordable solution can choose AutoPowr on the right-hand console with either mechanical or electrohydraulic SCVs.”

“For more comfort, the premium edition option features AutoPowr on the compact CommandArm.”

No extra cab display

Alongside the well-established AutoTrac system, John Deere is now introducing a new entry-level guidance solution on all 6M Series models.

With the unique AutoTrac on Corner Post Display, there is no longer any need for an extra cab display.

“All the new system needs to operate AutoTrac is a StarFire satellite receiver and it’s ready to go.”

Customers, John Deere said, can save up to 30% of the cost of a separate display, but maintain full flexibility of choice as an upgrade is possible at any time.

Front-loaders

Building on John Deere’s full-frame concept, the 6M Series models are also ideal front loader tractors and are perfectly matched to the new M Series models announced in May.

Complementing the R Series range, M Series loaders are specifically designed for customers who need a versatile, lighter loader at an attractive price without compromising lift height, the company said.

The loaders’ slim design complements the tractors’ manoeuvrability and is fully compatible with John Deere front hitches, allowing full front axle oscillation and maximum steering angles while still leaving room to access the tractor’s service points.

Within the four-cylinder tractor range, the 6140M has already become a bestseller. With its 2.58m wheelbase and weighing just under six tonnes, this light and agile tractor delivers an impressive maximum power of 155hp and even up to 166hp with Intelligent Power Management.

As a result, this versatile model combines all the advantages of a compact four-cylinder tractor together with a high-power output.

As another new option, the larger six-cylinder 6175M and 6195M tractors can now be equipped with a 155-litre/min hydraulic pump, for farmers and contractors who are looking for a “high-performance machine at an affordable price”.
