This week, the beef farmers of Ireland have decided to take a stand on the rubbish prices being offered for our prime beef animals in factories across the country. Beef Plan is putting up a massive fight for the beef farmers of Ireland.
Prices of €3.50/kg just isn’t good enough for our produce; I hear people giving out about people being laid off in factories due to no animals going in, but what happens when the beef population declines due to a non-profitable system and the animals just simply aren’t there?
Permanent job losses will become very common across all stages of the beef food chain not just our factories.
It’s great to see the amount of people getting behind this and from attending the Bandon protest yesterday, it is great to see that the core group behind this protest are so fanatic and driven to get a result for every single farmer in the country.
The beef industry is on its knees at the moment, but if everyone sticks together results can be got and things will get better.
