Slaney foods signed a deal with the supermarket, Lidl, and it was announced on the first day of Minister Creeds and his delegations trade mission to the US.
The Wexford-based company will now provide the US chain of Lidl with Irish Hereford Beef.
The move was ratified yesterday by the United States Department of Agriculture(USDA), clearing the beef for sale in stores.
The announcement comes after the USDAâs recent trip to Ireland to audit Bord Biaâs systems, and see if they were a satisfactory regulatory body.
Lidl have recently begun their expansion into the US markets, and plan to open over 100 stores across the country.
CEO of Bord Bia, Tara McCarthy, says the move and USDA approval will help attract new consumers of Irish beef.
