Shannonside radio have reported that illegal late-night markets are taking place wherein stolen tools are being sold.
A Roscommon man has went public on how his hunt for nearly €60k worth of his stolen tools lead him to one of these late night illegal markets.
Christy Swanick told Shannonside’s ‘Lets Talk show’ that the illegal stolen good sale took place in the early hours of Sunday morning and saw similar tools but not his own sold.
Swanick expressed great sadness at the loss of his tools which had taken him a lifetime to build up. The sale occurred outside Roscommon.
Stolen tools were being sold cheaply at the illegal markets. Swanick informed Shannonside that he saw a tool which retails at nearly €1600 being offered to him for €20.
Swanick works in the refrigeration business and noted the missing tools while on his way to work.
He attended the late night sale after a tip off about its location. The illegal sale occurred at 2pm in the morning and saw large numbers of highly valuable stolen tools for sale. Swanick did not name the location of the sale.
Every year thousands of tools are stolen from builders and farmers.
