ICBF has recently launched The ‘Stockbull Finder’ a new tool for pedigree breeders- a unique search engine for beef bulls in Ireland.
Bulls that have been weighed and scored by ICBF will only appear in this database on ICBF’s website.
Herds must be Whole Herd Performance Recording programme participants to be eligible to feature on the database.
Beef pedigree breeders can avail of the opportunity for their bulls to be constantly advertised for sale on the website, while they are in that herd.
Upon completion of a whole herd visit by an official ICBF scorer, all pedigree bulls that were on the farm during the visit, aged from ten months to 3-years of age, automatically are inputted into the ‘Stockbull Finder’.
All relevant performance details including weight recording data, ancestry and genomic details, €uro-star ratings and contact details are displayed, allowing breeders to make informed decisions prior to purchasing stock bulls.
All information is verified by the various breed societies and ICBF, ICBF has revealed.
Pedigree breeders can access their database to manage their offerings, with the option to add photos and comments about their bulls in question.
ICBF has said that already 500 pedigree breeders have signed up for the WHPR program and believes that this new initiative is “one of the biggest reasons pedigree breeders are joining up to the WHPR program” because bulls are advertised automatically following a WHPR programme visit.
