There have been two reports of animal abuse towards horses today, with one incident of abuse carried out in Swinford, Co. Mayo.
The news was posted on the Facebook page of non-profit organisation Action for Animal Welfare. They reported that the two horses had suffered from slash wounds on their necks, most likely caused by a knife.
They reported, “These two horses have been slashed by some kind of psychopath in Swinford, Co. Mayo.”
They said that the person responsible has been reported to Gardaí, whilst shaming them for having “no morals” and dubbing them “complete nutjobs”.
“How Could anyone do this”, they questioned on their Facebook post, see below picture.
The group also made the public aware of another instance of animal abuse involving a horse, with a man caught pouring alcohol down a horse’s throat in Fethard, Co. Tipperary.
The horse in question was said to be in bad condition and in need of feeding, whilst the culprit drove off in speed down the road. They have also been reported, though the group have urged for anyone who witnesses animal abuse to always report it.
