Independent TD, Michael-Healy Rae, has published his second book entitled ‘A Listening Ear, which contains more stories “from the heart of Ireland”.
Healy-Rae has established himself as a new storyteller, steeped in the traditions of rural Ireland.
In this book, which follows the success of ‘Time to Talk’, the Kerry native brings readers back to the countryside as he reveals more stories from his childhood and those he has encountered along the way.
‘Black and white’
Speaking to Radio Kerry, he said: “Sometimes, it is nice to put things down in black and white that they’re there for the future.”
“I would like to say a big thank you to the people whose events are in these books – without those, I would have nothing to write about,” he admitted.
“All we [the Healy-Raes] are ordinary people, going about our business and thankfully, have voted for us in different elections over many decades now and for that, we are very grateful.”
“A lot of people have a negative view of us – but maybe these books, show that the things that we really value. It’s the ordinary things that I do that I like,” he added.
The book was launched by Tommy Tiernan last Thursday (November 7th) at Gleneagle Hotel and is expected to be another Christmas best-seller.
