The news was announced by Jer Bergin, IFA National Returning Officer, this morning as he also named the other nominations for the upcoming elections.
Elections take place every two years and Healy was the only named nominee and will run unopposed. The new term is set to commence this January coming.
Deputy President of the IFA, Richard Kennedy, will also be unchallenged as will Former Chairman of WIcklow IFA, Tom Short. Tom will take over as SOuth Leinster Regional Chairman, taking over from James Murphy.
There were two nominations however for the Chairman of Ulster/North Leinster position. These were the current IFA poultry chairman, Nigel Renaghan, and Cavan IFA Chairman, James Speares. The two will compete in the regional chairman election in ballots at seven County Executives in Ulster/ North Leinster. These will take place in November and December. The successful candidate will take over from Bert Stewart.
The Munster Regional Chairman John Coughlan was nominated and returned unopposed, while the Connacht Regional Chairman Padraic Joyce was also nominated and returned unopposed.
