From Saturday 14th of April, Headford Mart is making a stand with Health and Safety and have confirmed that only mart staff will be allowed in the mart yard.
Headford Mart issued the statement below to That’s Farming earlier this afternoon to confirm the new health and safety rules.
“Health and Safety issues are always a growing concern in all marts and it's time to make a change. Going forward, we will only allow certified drovers in our Mart yard. We are aware that this will cause major concern for many farmers, customers, sellers and buyers.” The statement outlined.
Noting that this Saturday will prove to be “busy” as of the matter loading, unloading and gathering multiple stock, the mart has advised customers to allocate sufficient time. The mart has asked customers to be patient and co-operate at all times and stressed that parties that fail to secure the attention of yard staff when on-site have been asked to contact the office.
“We do hope that this stand will be a very positive one for Marts going forward. We are only making this change for the safety of our customers', staff and livestock for the future. Each Saturday going forward we will do our utmost to improve this process for sellers and buyers.” The statement added.
“We want to thank you in advance for your co-operation and patience from all the Staff at Headford Co-operative Mart.” the statement concluded.
