A new grass Utilisation scheme in Ireland has been anounced by Seed breeders DLF.
A farmer from county , David Thomas, has been announced as one to take part in the scheme which aims to help farmers improve their business and expand through better utilisation of grasslands.
The programme which is called "More Milk with DLF" is aimed at dairy farmers, and looks to help improve the industry.
Mr, Thomas runs a dairy/beef farm on 70hectares with his father near Tullamore. He decided to join up with the programme as he soon plans to raise his herd numbers up to at least 140 animals, and feels this will help him on his way. He feels it could help him increase the quality of his grass as well as grass output which would mean higher animal intake levels.
The programme was recently launched in Waterford and will involve three dairy farmers. It will offer them expert advice, access to all the most recent grass genetic materials from DLF and also top class varieties of grass seed.
The journey call be followed on all social media platforms and the farmers involved will profit from the company's worldwide innovation focus. They should also recceive the main aim of the programme, more milk on their farms.
Other farmesr taking part in the programme are Mr. David Hunter from county Tyrone and Mr. Eamonn Kent from Waterford. They both hope to expand their farms in the comoing years, and hope the programme will help them to do so.
