GLAS traditional farm buildings scheme closes tomorrow
The GLAS traditional farm building scheme closes tomorrow, Friday 24th November.
The scheme builds on the success of REPS4 which ran until 2013 and saw 350 farm buildings nationwide restored and over 140 previously unknown roosts of protected birds and bat species discovered and conserved.
The scheme is jointly funded by the Department and the EU and is administered on behalf of the Heritage council.
Grants are available to GLAS participants to carry out approved conservation works to traditional farm buildings and associated landscape structures such as historic yard surfaces, walls, gate pillars and gates.
The grants range from between €4000 and €25,000 and can cover up to 75% of the costs of the works.
The scheme is extremely competitive and around 50-70 projects will be supported this year.
