Glanbia are set to hold their Co-op’s special general meeting this Thursday coming. This has led to calls from the president of the IFA, Joe Healy, for farmers to attend and help influence and make decisions planned for proposed changes to the Glanbia business structure.
The company structure is of major importance, although more key issues facing farmers include the need for Glanbia to [ay leading base prices for milk and grain, and that inputs are competitively priced.
President of the IFA Mr. Healy said ““It is welcome that the proposals increase farmers’ control and ownership of Glanbia consumer foods, including liquid milk, and agri-business in Ireland. The proposals also recognise the need for a more sustainable mechanism to support farmers through volatile product prices, while funding important investment to process additional milk output,”.
He also added that Glanbia is still one of the leading and most important operators in Ireland’s agri-business sector. Before he stated that its ongoing success is of the upmost importance to Irish farmers and their futures.
Ahead of the planned meeting, Glanbia have explained extensively to their members and shareholders the proposals for the upcoming meeting.
All shareholders and members are advised by both Glanbia and the IFA to attend the meeting to ensure they play an active role in deciding the future of the business.
The meeting as previously mentioned will be held this Thursday in Punchestown. For more information please visit www.glanbia.com
