Donegal-Letterkenny Roads Policing Unit stopped this van and trailer transporting stakes and gates at a checkpoint in the Gweedore area recently.
Releasing a statement on Twitter, a Garda spokesperson said: “The driver did not have a licence to tow the trailer and will now get a summons to court.”
A category BE driving licence authorises you to tow a trailer where the combined maximum mass of the towing vehicle and trailer is greater than 3,500kg, according to the RSA.
A category B driving licence authorises a person to drive a car, van or 4 x 4 which has a maximum mass (as specified by the manufacturer) of no more than 3,500kg, the RSA outlined.
