A Co. Roscommon farmer was recently defrauded €400, leading to local Gardaí commencing a hunt to find the man responsible, as reported by Shannonside radio.
A man called to the door of the farmers house recently, claiming he was involved in road accident involving the farmer’s cattle. The man claimed the farmers cattle had broken onto the road, causing an accident. He then demanded €400 in compensation from the farmer, which he handed over. Upon questioning Gardaí the farmer realised that no accident had occurred.
The elderly farmers lives in the Summerhill area of Co. Roscommon and the incident is said to have occurred on Sunday September the 24th. Gardaí in Roscommon are now searching for the unknown man, who is said to be in his mid fifties, between 5ft 8” and 5ft 10”. He is also said to be of stocky build and with thick, fair facial hair. The man was also said to have worn a brown suit.
Gardaí are now appealing for anyone with an information on the incident to come forward. They are also asking for anyone who might have seen suspicious activity in the Crannagh area of Summerhill between 4pm and 4:30pm on Sunday the 24th to come forward.
