On Future Farming this week, we look at an exciting new spraying system, available to Irish farmers.

When spraying crops, Farmers can end up losing more than 80% of what is sprayed, to spray drift, which ends up costing a pretty penny.

The MagGrow system is a patented technology which uses permanent rare earth magnets as part of an integrated, proprietary, system for droplet formation that yields superior spray drift-reduction and spray coverage performance.

MagGrow, using a magnetic spraying system, reduces losses to drift by over 80%. This helps farmers deliver superior coverage, through using finer droplets. The concept was first developed three years ago. It is based on the use of magnetic fields, which is applied under appropriate dlow and fluid conditions.

This enables farmers to more effectively spray for weeds, whilst ensuring they hit the targeted areas. It can be easily

How it works:
The MagGrow system uses magnets, to help create an electromagnetic charge. This allows for the distribution of finer droplets, of whatever a farmer may be using. This also ensures they get superior coverage of their crops, whilst being more efficient.

Benefits:

  • There are many benefits to using this new system, such as increased profitability for farmers, through reduced spray drift.
  • Another benefit is that productivity is increased.
  • Offers better labour and land availability.
  • Allows for better compliance
  • Ensures better Environmental responsibility from farmers, using pesticides.
  • MagGrow can be easily fitted to new or existing spray equipment including crop sprayers.
“Our system uses fine droplets that deliver more accurate results while also controlling drift. Our internationally patented technology is also simple, user-friendly and has no moving parts.” said Gary Wickham, MagGrow CEO

"We are passionate about the belief that every generation has the right to food and water. Our purpose is to inspire and innovate a better way to grow." he continued.

Products:
You can buy the technology to use, in two seperate designs, the Harness and Frame or the Vertical Boom Boom.

1.MAGGROW Harness and Frame:
Ergonomic design to achieve comfortable fit, even weight distribution and back support Adjustable harness to suit any user Magnet housing unit mounted to frame at multiple points for maximum operational stability. It is designed with a flexi tube and quick release connections for ease of installation and use

2. MAGGROW Vertical Boom Boom
The length of 1.75 metres, with maximum spray band of 2 metres Detachable boom enables height adjustment. Features Quick release connections for ease of installation and use The boom comprises of two sections for added versatility. A valve (with every single nozzle) also provided with every single nozzle that will shut off the liquid.

3. Nozzle Adaptors
Adaptor with 3/8 thread compatible with any nozzle selection Adaptor used in conjunction with swivel holder for individual spray angle adjustment

It not only reduces spray drift, but also helps protect the environment and all through the use of magnet energy! MAGGROW could be set for a busy 2018!
