Dubbed an “ultramodern” automatic hoeing machine, the Steketee IC-Weeder is the latest in agri-robot technology.
Like other designs, the Skeketee IC-Weeder uses cameras to take pictures of the crops, thus accurately determining its position. This allows for the maximum and most efficient control of weeds, without farmers having to touch one plant!
The weeder can hoe all green coloured crops in rows, with different camera modules available for use on crops of different colours. The design comes with a range of different hoeing blades, to allow for working in all conditions. It can also be combined with any other hoeing technology provided by Steketee, such as finger weeders, torsion weeders, harrow weeders and more.
The design also allows for the application of row spraying or even specific crop spraying. There are also modules available that can count your crops, measure their surface or even establish discolouration of the crops!
How it works -
As mentioned, it works through high-quality industrial cameras which are fitted to the design. Each camera has two LED lights providing constant lighting. This is to help ensure that there are no interfering shadows or sunlight on images taken.
The design is comprised of a fixed part, coupled to the tractor, and a sliding part to which the hoes are attached. The Camera images send the hydraulic cylinder, fitted to the back of the machine, to the left or right, which makes the hoes move accurately between rows.
The IC-Weeder is also fitted with two ultra-sensors for height measurement. The lateral movement of hoeing blades is powered by two pneumatic cylinders and this allows for high reliability. The weeder is equipped to work at speeds of up to 5kms/hr!
The IC-Weeder is a modular design and is available in working widths of 1.5 to 8metres, and a choice of row distances. For further information, visit the Steketee website here
