All of Jim Wheeler’s land is now under water as a result of severe flooding along the Missouri River in Carroll County.
The only way to get to his farm – which will celebrate its 100th anniversary this year - is by boat.
Flooding is likely to continue as the river is being filled with more than twice the normal amount of water from an upstream reservoir.
“Most likely, there is not going to be any harvest this year.” the farmer told U.S. Farm Report.
Wheeler said that a similar incident occurred in 1993, but “it is an earlier flood this year; everything started in March.”
He highlighted the emotional toll on farmers right now and said that he “hopes everyone is going to survive.”
