Two to three large dogs have been wreaking havoc in the Keady area of Armagh county in recent days, resulting in the death of twelve sheep.
The dogs killed nine sheep in total and a further three sheep had to be put down by vets at the Orchard Veterinary Centre in Armagh, due to the bite injuries suffered during the attacks. Ten in-lamb ewes were also chased badly during the attack, which the Veterinary Centre warned often causes abortions.
“These poor defenceless creatures stood no chance against them.” The Orchard Veterinary Centre posted on Facebook.
“Farmers please be vigilant to avoid more loss of life. This is why dogs cannot be allowed to roam as this is an example of the real damage they can do.” They warned.
