Firefighters save 50 tonnes of hay from farm fire

Firefighters in the UK saved a farm outbuilding, which contained approximately 50 tonnes of hay, from a blaze on Tuesday (April 21st).

The building was protected after the fire crew created a fire break and isolated the hay store from the flames.

23 fire crew members and 5 fire engines attended the incident at Hollington, Derbyshire, where a fire had broken out in an open area of farmland in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Graham Mills, Head of Emergency Response at Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service, said the outbuilding was protected “thanks to quick intervention and extremely good work from firefighters”.
