Who would have thought that manure could have more than one use?
Having proven its worth as a valuable fertiliser, for crops, an innovative farmer has found yet another use!
As time passes, more emphasis is being placed on sustainable farming from an environmental perspective.
Organic Dairy farming ambassador Albert Straus, of Marin County, California is the brainchild behind bringing a new approach to the Agricultural world.
He aims to assist with all of the earth’s resources to find commonality, in bid to tackle climate change.
His farm utilises a Methane Digester, a covered lagoon which captures methane, greenhouse gas, from cow’s waste to produce electricity for the farm.
First in the world
Advancing on from this development, the farm is claiming to create the first electric methane-powered feed truck in the world!
Cows are being fed by a truck that is powered on their waste.
The waste also changes the batteries, drives the motor and mixes the feed, feeding it back to the animals on the farm.
You couldn’t nearly say it is like an adapted water cycle, where the difference is using methane!
On average, a cow produces 70-120kg of Methane on an annual basis, according to research.
See it in operation for yourself!
