Farming was the ‘real passion’ of Antrim farm accident victim

Tributes have poured out following the recent death of dairy farmer Andrew Abraham.

The father-of-4 lived in Waringstown, Co. Down, but farmed in Co. Antrim.

The 46-year-old was recently laid to rest and friends and family of the deceased have paid tribute.

Shock

Ulster Unionist Craigavon councillor Kyle Savage knows the Abraham family and said his sympathies are with them at this sad time.

Speaking to the Belfast Telegraph¸ Savage said: “It’s hard to get my head around this. We are all, the whole farming community and the wider community, are just in shock.”

“I know that he loved farming and that it was a real passion,” he said.

“I just can’t get over it. I’m just numb after it and feel devastated by what has happened. It’s all the more tragic because he has also left a young family behind, and that is going to be tough for everyone.”

Savage said that the farming community will rally around the family and provide them with whatever support they need during this difficult time.

“The whole community has been left shocked and devastated by the loss of yet another valuable member of the farming community.”

“I farm myself, and sometimes it is just so difficult to stay safe,” Cllr Savage added.
