Colmcille Ladies GAA club in Co. Longford have organised their annual Summer BBQ for next month, with the theme ‘Farmer and Fairies”.
The event will take place on Sunday the 23rd of July in Murtagh's pub, Aughnacliffe, Longford. It will run from 2pm until 5pm, with all proceeds going to the local Colmcille Ladies GAA team. The day will include not only a BBQ but also a disco, music and an entertainer.
A guaranteed day of fun for all the family, with the area’s first ever toy tractor run. Kids are encouraged to dress up in their finest farming gear or fairy costumes for the event. They are also encouraged to bring along their toy tractors and fairy transportation. All kids must be accompanied by an adult for the entirety of the short, pedalling journey.
“It is not a race, just a display of some fine machinery & a bit of fun”, the group behind the event claim.
“We will have a short-designated route set out & we would love if kids dressed up as farmers or fairies brought their tractors or fairy transport and peddled the route accompanied by an adult… Your continued support is gratefully appreciated”, it added.
Last year over 100 kids were in attendance and the group hope for the same again this year. There will also be a raffle on the night, with some hampers and vouchers up for grabs. Tickets can be purchased from GAA players on the day. Admission is optional for the fundraising event and Gardaí will also be on hand on the day to highlight the importance of road safety, while they will also hand out RSE Hi-Vis vests to attendees. There will also be some music later in the evening, by ‘Step Aside’.
Fancy some grub, entertainment, a good time and a chance to relive your childhood by playing with some toy tractors? Then why not head down to Aughnacliffe, July 23rd!
