Embrace Farm - a Farm Accident Support Network - are holding their next farm accident survivors' support group meeting in the Shamrock Lodge Hotel, Athlone on Sunday, June 9th) at 1 pm.
Norma Rohan and her husband Brian established Embrace Farm to support those who were affected by farm accidents. Seven years ago, they lost a close family member of their own through a farm accident.
The organisation supports bereaved families and accident survivors and also advocates for those affected.
The upcoming farm accident survivors’ workshop is a day for people to come together and the meeting will be attended by a trained psychotherapist - Gina Dowd.
Speaking to That’s Farming, Norma Rohan said, “The informal day is a space where people can just talk about how they’re adjusting to life after their accident.”
“There are a lot of mental health challenges following an accident, trying to deal with pain, coping with the health system and with legal issues such as insurance claims,” she added.
The workshop is designed to be a casual information exchange where people with the same challenges can discuss coping mechanisms, practical advice or simply just chat. Refreshments will be provided after the workshop.
