Charlie Meehan, a retired farmer from Carrick, Drumoghill in Co. Donegal, has been revealed as the man who won €500,000 in a recent Euromillions draw.
The 84-year-old spoke of his shock and delight at the win, but says health is more important than any money, as he revealed he recently overcame cancer. The farmer realised that he won the jackpot late on Tuesday night, February 5th, and had to wake his wife to get her to recheck his winning ticket.
The ticket was purchased from Barclay’s Newsagents in Raphoe and the numbers on Charlie’s quickpick were 02, 12, 33, 42, 44. The farmer has yet to reveal his plans for spending his winning total.
