The world record price for a working sheepdog at auction was smashed last Friday.
Northumberland shepherdess, 34-year-old Emma Gray, took home 18,000gns (£18,900 or approximately €22,590) for her two-and-a-half-year-old black and white bitch, Megan, at Skipton Auction Mart on February 21st.
Last year, Gray set a new world record price for a working sheepdog bitch when she secured 14,000gns (€17,000).
The well-known shepherdess strives to “breed top-quality working sheepdogs with the emphasis on working ability”. She believes that “heart, honesty, bravery and power” are the lifeblood of a working collie.
