Healy-Rae Plant Hire, a company owned by Kerry TD Danny Healy-Rae, is being sued in High Court by a former tipper-truck driver over what he describes as negligence, as reported in the Sunday Times.
Tim Cox, a former driver for the company, is suing the company after a road “gave way” whilst he was traveling on it at the Kilgarvan windfarm in Co. Kerry. The incident occurred in November 2016, with the former employee of Healy-Rae Plant Hire suffering “significant injuries” in the process.
Mr. Cox suffered injuries to his back, legs and arms and says he is no longer able to drive as a result. He claims that his employers showed negligence in getting him to transport heavy cargo on a narrow roadway, not suitable for such purposes. He alleges that this is why the road gave way.
Tim Cox is also suing another company owned by Mr. Healy-Rae, Sunville Construction. He is seeking compensation in excess of €75,000.
