The 2016 Point- to-Point race and country fair took place in Dowth at the weekend. The fair increased its numbers too with attendance up by 2000 on last years event.
The Dowth Point-to-Point race was revived by the Devenish company in 2015, the original Dowth Hall hosted races as far back as the early 1700s.
The day featured 6 races over 3 miles. Trainer John Hanlon celebrated a double win. The Tattersalls Ireland 4yo Maiden, and with Lady Jameson’s victory in the our sixth race the James Gogarty Stone Winners Of Two Mares Race. Richie Harding steered both to victory and was recording his 200th winner. Division two of the The Tattersalls Ireland 4yo Maiden went to Redemption Song. The four-year-old maiden had received one of the biggest entries of the season.
Racing was not the only attraction of the day with food and chefs being amongst the highlights of the day. Star chef Richard Corrigan was in attendance as well as the Boyne Valley food tent which featured local artisan producers.
There was also a charity ball which was in aid of Farm Africa.
