A farmer in Cambodia has been evoking outrage from animal rights activists, after he began posting pictures of his genetically modified pigs.
The Pigs are been called “double-muscled” and the farmer now has begun selling the ‘super sperm’ from the pigs for a measly sum. The animals can be seen to have huge, bulging muscles and testicles and struggle to walk.
The farm began posting pictures of the progress of his pigs on Facebook, leading to the images going viral. The page in question is called Duroc Cambodia and the farmer is thought to reside in the Banteay Meanchey province of the country. He has been posting images of their progress since December 2016.
The farmer offers the sperm and artificial penises for the small price of €5.57 excluding postage. It is thought this latest craze of altering pigs to have huge muscles, seen in Korea and China in recent years, is in a bid to meet recent higher demands for pork products.
The actions of this farmer has been condemned by PETA among other groups. PETA said, ‘Hulk-like pigs are the stuff of nightmares, not meals, and those who are genetically engineered are also likely to be born with painful health issues.’
