A young sheep farmer collected his Lotto Plus 1 top prize of €1 million at National Lottery headquarters yesterday (Tuesday, April 2nd).
Odhrán Doherty (23) from Letterkenny, Co. Donegal said he plans to take a holiday and purchase a tractor with his winnings.
“We’ll go for a wee holiday first for a month or so and relax and figure out then what we’re going to do.”
His father – Liam – purchased the winning ticket for him in Barclay’s of The Diamond in Raphoe.
“A couple of thousand”
Odhrán arrived in Dublin in a stretch Hummer with his family and friends.
They were making their way to the Capital when the young farmer realised that he had left his slip at home.“But it wasn’t too bad, we were only in Raphoe so we got it back and it was alright.”He laughed.
Speaking at Lottery HQ, Ireland's newest millionaire said: “I scanned the ticket and it said ‘congratulations’.
“I thought I’d only won a couple of thousand, if anything – I didn’t realise it was going to be this amount,” He added.
“I’m not leaving it [the farm] – I like to too much. It’s kind of a family thing now so I’ll stay at it.” He concluded.
