New figures on Domestic Milk Intake by creameries and pasteurizers in Ireland have been published by the Central Statistics office today (January 31st) and show that domestic intake in December 2018 has increased by 23.2% from December 2017!
The figures were posted earlier today, see here, and show that an estimated 253.1million litres of milk were taken in during December 2018. This represents an 23.2% increase on domestic intake figures from December 2017, when 205.5 million litres in total were taken in.
The overall domestic intake in 2018 also increased from 2017, an increase of 4.3% to 7,576.1 million litres. Meanwhile, the total milk sold for human consumption decreased by 3.8 % to 42.7 million litres.
Butter production was also up on 2017, an increase of 16.9 % to 13,300 tonnes.
