Drones are more and more common, and they give thieves a bird's eye view of your farmyard:

With the technology era taking over, even in the farming world, we now find ourselves at risk from our own advancement.

Drones now pose a serious problem in farming and are being linked to an increase in farm thefts, according to KCLR 96FM, the Kilkenny-Carlow radio station. The station says that local farmers are reporting more and more thefts to them.

Drones are so readily available nowadays and so easily operated that thieves can gain an added advantage of what is literally a bird’s eye view of farmyards and building.

Farmers are completely helpless to this, but they should always be vigilant and take the necessary precautions to make their farms secure.

Farmers should secure possessions to the best of their ability and lock sheds. It can be difficult sometimes to do so repeatedly but this however is the world we live in at the minute.

Kilkenny and Carlow local Radio reported that gardai found €150,000 worth of stolen garden tools and machinery last week in the area which had been linked with thefts in the locality.

Farmers should be cautious of all ‘eyes’ in the sky. Any suspicious behaviour should be reported to the gardaí. This is a nationwide problem that all farmers should be weary of. Remember always........
