“He [Minister Creed] is forgetting about rural Ireland but he will have to stand up and do something for these farmers because this issue has gone on long enough” – those were the words of Danny Healy-Rae during Dáil question time earlier this week.
“It seems that everything he [Minister Creed] is doing relates to Dublin; he is Dublin-orientated.” the Independent TD added.
“I point out that the price of beef has actually fallen in the past few weeks to €3.20-€3.30/kg. Farmers cannot survive on that. The quicker the Minister realises that, the better.” Healy-Rae stressed.
He said that current beef factory quotes are “ridiculous”. “The Minister is the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine. Will he, please, do something about that?” he questioned.
Healy-Rae called for all injunctions on farmers to be lifted. “It is a shame that those people are still being threatened with an injunction.”
