Donie Ryan, and his farm, have been making some serious waves in the industry.
Well known in the area for the constant updating of facilities and development of his farm.
A dairy farmer, Donie regularly updates his equipment and system with the latest dairy technologies.
The farm open day, July 13th, will now offer farmers a chance to see the farm up close first hand.
Visitors will get a chance to visit the hi-tech pedigree Ardywanig Holstein Friesian farm, and the open day will commence from noon on the day, before concluding at four.
Well known around for his farms hygiene and animal health, the open day will also feature nine exhibitor firms from the dairy industry.
These will include names such as Kellihers feed and Agri supplies, Dairymaster, CID LINES, Sinclair McGill, Gallagher fencing, southern milling, Peat Bed, O’Connors Tractors and Yara fertilisers.
The farm, based in Ballinoe Milltown, is a chance for visitors to inspect the farm up close, and visitors will find out how the average yields of 9,000 litres per cow is achieved.
The milking parlour on site is the brand new Dairymaster swiftflo fast exit 30 unit, which is fully automated and only recently added.
There will be talks held on the day, featuring some major figures in the industry.
Dr David Gleeson of Teagasc will be on hand to talk, as will Animal Health Ireland’s Finola McCoy, CID LINES Robin Franzon, and many more.
Visitors will get a chance to meet the speakers on the day as well as the trade exhibitors who will be on site. Topics like animal health, hygiene and dairy development will be discussed, and there will be a live milking taking place on site from 4pm.
Donie Ryan will be there on the day also and will be available to answer questions and talk to the visitors.
