Yesterday following the news of Leo Varadkar's official election as Taoiseach, we brought you the news of the cabinet reshuffle.
This saw Mr. Michael Creed TD retain his position as minister for agriculture, food and the marine for another term
Mr. Creed today released a statement today speaking of his honour to be reappointed. He spoke to thank Mr. Varadkar for his trust in him and said he feels priveleged to serve as Minister.
He said "I am honoured and humbled to have been reappointed as Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine by the new Taoiseach and I thank him sincerely for his trust in me. I have been privileged to serve in this Department over the past year and have strived to meet the significant challenges facing farm families, fishing communities, and the agri-food sector as a whole."
Mr. Creed also spoke of the work done by him and his department in the past and says it will provide him with a good platform to face Brexit negotiations.
He stated "I am confident that the foundations I have laid and the relationships I have developed, since my initial appointment as Minister, will stand me in good stead as we face in to the
commencement of the Brexit negotiation process."
He concluded by restating his support ot the agri-food and fisheries sectors, "On this special day for me personally, I wish to reiterate my unrelenting commitment to serving all involved in our agri-food and fisheries sector from primary producers to worldwide exporters.”
